Auction results: 20 MW Solar Power Plant to be built in Kyzylorda region

QAZAQ GREEN. On September 26, 2024, an auction was held to select renewable energy projects for the construction of a 20 MW solar power plant in the Southern Zone of Kazakhstan's Unified Energy System, according to KOREM.
The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan set the maximum auction price for solar power projects in 2024 at 34.61 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT).
Nine companies participated in the auction, submitting a total of 42 price offers. The combined capacity of the bids reached 140 MW.
During the auction, the price range of the offers varied from 34.61 to 14.22 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT), representing a 58.91% reduction from the starting price.
As a result of the auction, LLP "Vigor Holding" was declared the winner. Their project, with an installed capacity of 20 MW, won with a final auction price of 14.22 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT). The plant will be located in the Kyzylorda region.
To ensure compliance with auction regulations, representatives from the Ministry of Energy, the Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, Atameken NCE RK, and USAID participated as observers.
It is worth noting that, according to this year's auction schedule, four auctions were held for solar power plants, with a total installed capacity of 160 MW. The results showed a price reduction of more than 50% compared to the starting price, with the lowest bid at 14.22 tenge/kWh (excluding VAT). These projects are also planned for the Southern Zone of Kazakhstan's Unified Energy System.
The next auctions, scheduled for November 2024, will focus on hydroelectric, wind, and bioelectric power plants. JSC KOREM, the auction organizer, invites all interested parties involved in renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan to participate in these upcoming auctions.
