Timeline and investment for 300 MW solar power plant in Turkestan region announced

QAZAQ GREEN. The key agreements on the construction of a 300 MW solar facility in the Sauran district of the Turkestan region were signed in Beijing during the eighth meeting of the Kazakhstan-China Business Council, Ministry of Energy reported.
The investment agreement and the power purchase agreement between Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy and China Energy Engineering Group were signed in the presence of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The project involves an investment of about US$320 million, with implementation scheduled for 2025–2026. The plant is expected to enhance energy security in the south and represents one of the tangible outcomes of talks between Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov and senior executives of China’s leading energy companies.
Minister Akkenzhenov noted that the project will reinforce the national energy system, create new jobs, and mark a step towards carbon neutrality. The facility will contribute to diversifying Kazakhstan’s energy mix, expanding the share of renewables, and consolidating the country’s role as a regional leader in the transition to a green economy.
