1-Gigawatt wind farm to be built in Kostanay region

QAZAQ GREEN. Deputy Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Kudaibergen Arymbek met with residents of Kostanay, where he outlined key priorities of state energy policy, including energy security, infrastructure modernization, and the expansion of renewable energy, the Ministry of Energy reported.

Special attention was given to ongoing projects in the Kostanay region. Gasification efforts continue, with current coverage at about 60%. In 2025, 3.1 billion tenge has been allocated for four projects that will bring natural gas to an additional 5,700 residents. Reconstruction of thermal and power networks is also underway in Kostanay, Rudny, and Arkalyk.

The renewable energy sector is advancing as well. Four projects with a combined capacity of 250 MW are scheduled for implementation through auction tenders. In addition, a project to build a 1 GW wind farm with integrated energy storage was selected, with commissioning planned for 2028.

Residents actively engaged in the meeting, raising issues of gas and heat supply, network maintenance, and other pressing concerns. The Deputy Minister provided detailed responses to all questions.
