Six renewable energy projects to be implemented in Kostanay region by 2026

QAZAQ GREEN. The energy supply system in Kostanay region is gaining strategic importance. Alongside traditional sources, increasing attention is being paid to renewables—wind, solar, and gas, Press Office of the regional akimat reported.
Major projects have been successfully launched in recent years. In 2022, a 50 MW wind power plant by “Zhel Electric” began operating in Kostanay district. In 2023, another 48 MW wind plant was commissioned in Arkalyk by “KazWindEnergy.”
Over the next two years, six new renewable energy projects are planned:
- A 22.6 MW solar power plant in Beimbet Mailin district (investor: Altyn Solar Energy LLP, completion: Q1 2026);
- A 40 MW gas piston power plant in the same district (developer: GPPES "Varvarinskoe", launch: Q2 2026);
- A 50 MW wind power plant in Arkalyk (developer: Aspan Energo, commissioning: June 1, 2026);
- Two wind farms totaling 100 MW in Kostanay district (developers: Mars Wind and Jupiter Wind, commissioning: end of 2026);
- A large-scale wind park with 165 turbines and 1 GW capacity (developer: TuranWindEnergy, selected via auction).
These projects will increase renewable electricity generation tenfold—from 0.12 GW to 1.27 GW—boosting energy security, reducing transmission losses, and creating new jobs in the region.
