Tokayev ratifies Green Energy Corridor Agreement with Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan

QAZAQ GREEN. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed the Law "On Ratification of the Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the Field of Production and Transmission of Green Energy between the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan," the Akorda press service reports.
The Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the Field of Production and Transmission of Green Energy between Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan is aimed at establishing a cross-border energy corridor for the export of renewable energy to Europe. The document provides for the joint development of renewable energy generating capacity, construction of the necessary infrastructure and transmission of electricity across the bed of the Caspian Sea. The project is part of the three countries' broader strategy to diversify exports and increase the share of green energy in their national energy balances.
