A 100 MW WPP commissioned in Abay oblast

QAZAQ GREEN. In July 2022, wind power plant (WPP) "Abay-1" with capacity of 100 MW started generating in Ayagoz district of Abay oblast.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev earlier ordered to put into operation at least 2 400 MW capacity of renewable energy sources (RES) by 2025, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan reports.
The project implementation is a continuation of active integration of renewable energy sources into the general power system of the country, allowing to produce about 300 mln kWh of additional electric power in the networks as well as create about 15 permanent jobs in the frames of the project.
Besides, the Concept of Kazakhstan's transition to green economy and the Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy approved the targets to bring the share of renewable energy in the country's energy balance to 6% in 2025, 15% in 2030 and 50% in 2050 (taking into account alternative sources).
