Japan’s Shimizu unveils Luna Ring concept for lunar solar power generation

QAZAQ GREEN. Japanese company Shimizu Corporation has introduced the Luna Ring concept — a large-scale project to generate solar power on the Moon and transmit it to Earth, as part of a shift toward a new energy paradigm based on abundant clean energy.
The concept envisions installing a विशाल belt of solar panels along the Moon’s equator, stretching roughly 11,000 kilometers. The generated power would be transmitted to the Earth-facing side of the Moon, converted into microwave or laser beams, and sent to receiving stations on Earth.
The system is designed to provide continuous, weather-independent power generation. On Earth, the transmitted energy would be converted into electricity for grid use or into hydrogen for storage and fuel.
The project also proposes using lunar resources for construction. Moon soil could be utilized to produce oxygen, water, glass, ceramics, concrete, and even solar cells.
Robots are expected to play a central role in building the infrastructure, operating around the clock via remote control from Earth, with human involvement required for complex tasks.
According to the developers, LUNA RING could enable global access to clean energy and contribute to the development of a sustainable energy system.
