Construction of 500 MW wind power plant begins in Karaganda region

QAZAQ GREEN. Construction of a 500 MW wind power plant (WPP) has officially launched in Karaganda region.
The project is being developed by China Energy International Group in partnership with Samruk-Energo under an intergovernmental agreement between Kazakhstan and China.
Total investment in the project amounts to $645 million. Annual generation is expected to reach approximately 1.6 billion kWh of green energy. The wind power plant is scheduled to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2029.
The project will enable annual reductions in carbon dioxide emissions of approximately 1.3 million tonnes, delivering a significant environmental impact.
Overall, the current focus is on strengthening international partnerships for the construction of large-scale wind power projects equipped with modern energy storage systems. In Zhambyl region, French company TotalEnergies has begun construction of a 1 GW wind power plant, while a similar 1 GW project has launched in Pavlodar region in partnership with Chinese corporation State Power Investment Corporation.
