50 MW solar power plant auction winner determined in Kazakhstan's Southern Grid Zone

QAZAQ GREEN. On April 30, 2026, a free auction was held to select projects for the construction of a solar power plant (SPP) in the Southern Zone of the Unified Power System of Kazakhstan (Almaty region) with a total installed capacity of 50 MW.
One of the conditions for implementing solar power plant projects under the free auction framework is the requirement to equip them with energy storage systems with a capacity of at least 30% of the facility's installed capacity and an energy capacity sufficient to deliver said power for at least four hours.
Two companies were admitted to the auction. During the trading session, participants submitted three price bids, with the total volume of submitted applications amounting to 100 MW.
Based on the auction results, Energo Tranzit Grupp LLP was declared the winner. The project's installed capacity is 50 MW, and the auction price is 34.56 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Qazaq Green Renewable Energy Sources Association, and the Kazakhstan Electric Power Association participated in the auction as observers. The observers confirmed the transparency and correctness of the electronic trading system operated by KOREM JSC.
The next auctions for the selection of SPP construction projects are scheduled for May 18, 2026, in the Southern Zone (Kyzylorda region), with a total installed capacity of 65 MW.
