Price of marginal auction price for selection of WPP projects in Kazakhstan reduced by 48%

QAZAQ GREEN. On November 16, 2023, an auction was conducted for the selection of RES projects for wind power plants in the Northern Zone of the UES of RK, with a total installed capacity of 50 MW.
Seven companies were permitted to participate, and participants submitted 16 price offers during the trading session, totaling 215 MW in applications. The initial maximum auction price was set at 22.68 tg/kWh (excluding VAT). There was a notable decrease in the price range of applications, dropping from 22.68 to 11.88 tg/kWh (excluding VAT), marking a 48% reduction from the maximum auction price for selecting wind farm construction projects.
The winning company, LLP "Jupiter Wind," secured the project with an installed capacity of 50 MW at an auction price of 11.88 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT). The project is slated for the Kostanay region.
It's worth noting that, as per the Auction Schedule, three auctions were conducted this year, with a total capacity of 200 MW allocated for the Kostanay region in the Northern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Observers from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Kazakhstan Electric Power Association," "KAZENERGY," and UNDP participated in the proceedings.
The upcoming auction is scheduled for November 17, 2023, focusing on selecting wind power station projects for the Southern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with a total installed capacity of 50 MW.
