Wind and solar power plants to be built in West Kazakhstan region

QAZAQ GREEN. Large-scale green energy projects are set to be implemented in the West Kazakhstan Region, reports "24KZ." The region will see the construction of wind and solar power plants with a combined capacity of 80 megawatts.
According to local authorities, the contractor for the project will be selected through an auction scheduled for the spring. As stated by Mirass Mulkai, Head of the Regional Energy and Utilities Department, the sites for construction have already been chosen. The facilities will be located in the Bokeyorda, Zhangalybek, and Terekty districts, as well as in the city of Oral.
Since the early 2000s, five gas turbine power plants have been built in the region, generating nearly 480 megawatts of electricity. With the launch of the new renewable energy facilities, the total production capacity will increase to 560 megawatts.
"Modern technology allows wind farms to be installed in such areas, and the necessary wind measurements have been conducted. The specific site we selected on Svistun Hill meets all the required conditions for a wind power plant. Meanwhile, the two other sites, located slightly further south, have been designated for solar power plants," said Mirass Mulkai.
