Iraq opens first large-scale solar power plant in Karbala

QAZAQ GREEN. Iraq has inaugurated its first industrial-scale solar power plant in Karbala province, southwest of Baghdad, in a move aimed at reducing reliance on fossil fuels and addressing the country’s chronic electricity shortages.
Developed by Al-Bilal Group for General Contracts in partnership with Orascom Construction Industries and Norwegian renewable energy company Scatec, the project represents one of the largest private-sector investments in Iraq’s energy diversification.
