Auction for construction of SPP in Zhambyl region held

QAZAQ GREEN.  On November 27, 2023, RES (Renewable Energy Sources) auctions were conducted to select projects for the construction of a solar power plant in the Southern Zone of the Unified Energy System (UES) of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with a total installed capacity of 20 MW, as reported by KOREM.

Eight companies were granted permission to participate in the auction, and during the trading session, participants submitted 45 price offers. The total volume of applications reached an impressive 110.001 MW. The starting maximum auction price was 34.61 KZT per kWh (excluding VAT).

Throughout the trading session, the price range of bids received from participants in the auction varied from 34.61 to 17.34 KZT per kWh (excluding VAT). The price reduction from the starting auction price for the selection of projects for the construction of the solar power plant amounted to 49.89%.

Following the auction, the winning company was identified as LLP "Horsa", with an installed project capacity of 10.001 MW and an auction price of 17.34 KZT per kWh (excluding VAT). The project is planned to be located in the Zhambyl region.

Observers from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Atameken NCE RK, Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, KAZENERGY, and USAID participated in the event. 


Observers praised the complete transparency of the electronic trading system used by the auction organizer, JSC "KOREM".

The next auction is scheduled for November 28, 2023, focusing on the selection of projects for the construction of a solar power plant with a total installed capacity of 20 MW for the Southern zone of the UES in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
