KazNU and Energy Ministry building a science-education ecosystem for Kazakhstan’s energy transition

QAZAQ GREEN. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University have held a meeting to launch joint initiatives aimed at training qualified specialists, strengthening competencies, and developing the human capital of the fuel and energy sector, including fields linked to the energy transition and the use of artificial intelligence technologies, according to ministry’s press office.
The partnership follows the President’s State of the Nation Address “Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Key Challenges and Their Solutions through Digital Transformation” and aligns with the National Plan, which calls for coordinated efforts among research institutes and universities to advance innovation and support academic institutions working in the field of artificial intelligence.
The parties noted that the signed Memorandum provides for the establishment of an industry-focused Center for Technological Competence in the energy sector. The Center will serve as a platform for joint research on industrial and energy technologies, the development of applied solutions, and the strengthening of cooperation between industrial and research organizations.
A key element of the cooperation will be the use of KazNU’s supercomputer infrastructure. This resource will enable the modelling of complex technological and industrial processes, the testing of artificial intelligence models, and the development of analytical tools for digitalization and modernization tasks in the energy sector.
The Ministry of Energy emphasizes that the agreement marks a significant step toward building a resilient science-education ecosystem tailored to the long-term needs of the energy sector. Joint efforts with KazNU and international partners will help prepare a new generation of specialists, accelerate the deployment of innovations, and enhance the technological resilience of the industry.
