Three hybrid energy complexes to be commissioned in Yakutia by year's end

QAZAQ GREEN. By the end of 2024, three new hybrid energy complexes will be launched in Yakutia, YakutiaMedia reports citing the regional government's press service.
These automated hybrid energy complexes are being constructed in the villages of Oymyakon, Kuydusun, and Orto-Balagan in the Oymyakon District, utilizing modern renewable energy technologies.
Each facility will feature a diesel power plant, a solar power plant, and an energy storage system, all integrated under an automated control system. This combination will reduce the need for imported fossil fuels and lower the environmental impact by harnessing solar energy and using efficient diesel generators.
The automated hybrid energy complexes are part of a larger agreement with RusHydro, signed at the Eastern Economic Forum, which plans the construction of 73 such facilities across the region. These projects aim to provide reliable, cheaper, and cleaner energy to remote communities.
"New hybrid energy complexes will ensure a stable electricity supply for our settlements, while also being environmentally friendly and cost-effective," said Yakutia's Head Aysen Nikolaev.
Previous similar projects in villages like Ulakhan-Kyuel, Khonuu, and Verkhoyansk have already reduced diesel fuel consumption by 1,400 tonnes. In September, automated hybrid energy complexes with a total capacity of 3.7 MW were commissioned in four more villages, including Uritskoye and Topolinoe.
These isolated settlements, where winter temperatures drop below -50°C, rely on dependable energy for the well-being and safety of residents, making these projects vital to the region.
