Unigreen Energy commissions second solar facility in Kalmykia

QAZAQ GREEN. Unigreen Energy has completed construction of its second solar power plant in the Republic of Kalmykia — the 63 MW Laganskaya solar facility. With its commissioning, the share of renewable energy in the region’s power system has reached 96.9%.
The plant is located near the village of Ulan-Khol in the Lagansky district and covers more than 170 hectares. It features over 115,000 domestically produced bifacial solar modules and more than 900 km of кабling infrastructure.
Annual electricity generation is projected at 91.6 million kWh, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 32,000 tonnes per year.
The facility is the first in Russia’s Unified Energy System to implement a fully integrated remote control system, enabling real-time management of active and reactive power, switching equipment, and relay protection and emergency automation systems.
The plant uses solar tracking technology, increasing electricity generation by an average of 20–25% compared to fixed-tilt installations.
As part of environmental measures, more than one million phytomeliorative plants, including gray teresken and leafless dzhuzgun, have been planted to stabilize sand movement in the area.
The company noted that new solar capacity enhances the reliability of power supply in southern Russia, particularly during scheduled maintenance of thermal power plants.
