Wind farm under construction in Ulytau region

QAZAQ GREEN. The first wind farm in the Ulytau region is under construction, backed by Kazakh and Chinese investors. The total investment amounts to 24.5 billion KZT. The facility is expected to be completed by the end of the year, reports "24KZ".
The 100-megawatt wind farm will be situated between the neighboring cities of Zhezkazgan and Satpayev. 16 wind turbines will be installed near Zhezkazgan. Preparations for the foundations of these technological installations are currently in full swing. According to the project plan, the electricity generated by the turbines will be sent to a substation in Satpayev, from where it will be integrated into the national energy grid. Construction of the substation began in early April.
“This renewable energy project, part of the ‘green’ economy initiative, is the first of its kind in Satpayev. It is currently underway and will create 50 jobs during the construction phase and provide 11 permanent jobs once operational. Additionally, it will contribute through taxes and investments,” said Almat Saukhimov, Deputy Akim of Satpayev.
The project is funded through private investments, involving three companies from Kazakhstan and China. Moreover, another similar energy facility is planned for the Zhanaarka district of the region.
“In 2025, we plan to start constructing a 1,000-megawatt wind farm. A Kazakh company has already been identified as the investor. A 20-hectare plot has been allocated for the project. We have also installed a meteorological tower to monitor wind power and its dynamics,” stated Zhangeldy Bogenbayev, Deputy Head of the Department of Energy and Housing and Communal Services of the Ulytau region.
Additionally, a plant for manufacturing wind turbine towers for eco-friendly power plants is planned for the industrial zone of Zhezkazgan, with a design capacity of 100 towers per year.
