150 MW Wind Power auctions: winners announced for Southern and Northern Zones of Kazakhstan's UPS

QAZAQ GREEN. On May 26 and 27, 2025, auctions were held to select renewable energy projects for the construction of wind power plants (WPPs) in the Southern and Northern zones of the Unified Power System (UPS) of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with a total installed capacity of 150 MW, KOREM reports.
The auction on May 26 focused on the Southern zone. Seven companies were admitted to participate and submitted a total of 26 price bids. The total volume of submitted proposals reached 300 MW. Bid prices ranged from 22.09 to 13.19 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT), while the auction ceiling price was set at 22.68 KZT/kWh. The winner was Zhasyl Mura LLP, with a project capacity of 50 MW and a bid of 13.19 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).
The Northern zone auction took place on May 27. Eight companies participated and submitted 14 price bids for a total capacity of 600 MW. The range of prices offered was between 18.05 and 11.49 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT). The winning project, with a capacity of 100 MW, was submitted by Zeta Wind LLP, at a price of 11.49 KZT/kWh (excluding VAT).
Observers from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, KazEnergy, and, depending on the region, representatives of “KAZAKH INVEST” National Company JSC and the “EcoJer” Association participated in the auctions. All observers confirmed the transparency of the electronic trading platform operated by the auction organiser – KOREM JSC.
