New 63 MW Solar Power Plant launched in Kalmykia

QAZAQ GREEN. Unigreen Energy has successfully commissioned the Krasinskaya Solar Power Plant (SPP), a 63 MW facility located in the Lagan district of the Republic of Kalmykia, reports IA Neftegaz.RU, citing the company’s press service.
The project represents an investment of over 6 billion rubles. With the addition of this plant, Kalmykia’s total installed solar power capacity has reached 297 MW, placing the republic among the leading Russian regions in terms of solar energy generation.
According to Kalmykia’s Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Energy, the Krasinskaya SPP is the fourth solar power plant in the region. It joins Maloderbetovskaya (60 MW), Yashkulskaya (58.5 MW), and the largest in the country, Arshanskaya (115.6 MW). This increased capacity has boosted the share of solar energy in Kalmykia’s energy mix to 55.6%.
Spanning an area of approximately 180 hectares, the Krasinskaya SPP features over 150,000 double-sided solar modules manufactured in Russia, along with more than 800 kilometers of cable. The plant is expected to produce 99.6 million kWh of electricity annually, offsetting 35,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. The facility employs a sun-tracking system, which enhances electricity generation by 20–25% compared to fixed-angle modules.
During construction, around 100 temporary jobs were created, and 20 permanent positions have been established for the plant’s operation and maintenance.
Unigreen Energy is also advancing the development of the Lagan Solar Power Plant, another 63 MW project located near the Krasinskaya SPP. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2025.
